Obituary for Melissa Sproul Sawyer

Melissa Sproul Sawyer
Melissa S. Sawyer, 48, suddenly and tragically left this earth as a result of an automobile accident on March 25, 2018. Melissa’s love and joy were her immediate and extended family. She took great pride in the love and successes of her husband, Troy Sawyer, as well as her children Shania Melvin, Zachary Melvin, and her bonus children Isabelle and Ben Sawyer, Kassidi Gilbert, and Shania’s boyfriend Patrick Madden. She also cherished the love of her mother Eileen Parsons, her step father Terry Parsons, her step mother Dixie Sproul, her brother Kevin Sproul and his wife Lynn, her sister Shawna Wing and her partner Aaron Poulin, her half brother Troy Sproul and his wife Karen, her step brother Adam McNaughton and his wife Judy, step brother Jason LaCrosse and wife Michaela, and step sister Angela Gallagher and husband Paul.

Melissa’s life was best characterized by love. In recent years she worked as a care giver to senior citizens and she saw her job as bringing as much love, joy, and comfort to their lives as she could. Prior to this she worked for many years in various roles at local schools where she was loved by those whose lives she touched.

Melissa graduated from Medomak Valley High School in the Class of 1987. Her hobbies were diverse and many, including photography, kayaking and spending time outdoors with friends and family.

Melissa is predeceased by her father Craig (Butch) Sproul, her uncle Ricky Sproul, her grandparents Nadine (Maime) Achorn, and Austin Achorn, grandfather Richard Crabtree, and step brother Rich Wilkes. In addition to her husband and children, mother, step father, step mother, brothers and sisters, Melissa is survived by her grandparents Clyde and Joan Genthner of Bremen, grandmother Greta Crabtree, and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, grandniece, cousins and special friends.

Visiting hours will be held on Friday, March 30, 2018 from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at Hall Funeral Home, 949 Main Street, in Waldoboro. A service to celebrate Melissa’s life will be held on Saturday, March 31, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at the Medomak Valley High School gymnasium.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Melissa’s name to the Lincoln County Animal Shelter, P.O. Box 7, Edgecomb, Maine 04556.
