Ronald Leon  Yattaw

Ronald L. Yattaw, 57 years old died at his home in Friendship, ME on Friday January 28th, 2012 after a brief illness. Ron was born in Rockland, Maine on Sept. 22, 1954, and was the eldest of two sons of the late Constance Mink-Yattaw and Llewellyn Yattaw, Jr. of Friendship Maine. He was a 1972 graduate of Medomak Valley High School where he was recognized for his high academic achievements. In addition, Ron participated in several sports including basketball, track, and baseball, where his baseball team won the state championship in 1970.
Shortly after high school, he volunteered his time to the Waldoboro Little Leaque. For the past 30 years Ron owned and operated his own plumbing and heating business serving Friendship and surrounding areas. Ron was a devoted and skilled master plumber who was always there for his customers in need. His passion in later years was to the Maine Harness Horseman's Association (MHHA) where he owned and raced several successful horses. Recently, he was honored at an award ceremony from the MHHA for achieving ten, first place finishes during the 2011 season. Ron was a “local character who was never afraid to speak his mind, and was loved by many.
Ronnie is survived by his two sons Eric and his wife Heather of Portland Maine, Matthew and his long time girlfriend Brittney Hawthorne of Rockland, Maine
Brother, Keith Yattaw and his wife Michelle of Orlando, FL
Father, Llewellyn Yattaw Jr. and wife Cynthia of Friendship, ME,
several aunts, uncles and cousins
The service will be held 3 p.m. Thursday February 2nd at the Friendship United Methodist Church. A Reception will immediately follow at the Hahn Community Center. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Friendship Fire Department, P.O. Box 207, Friendship, Me 04547 or American Cancer Society, NE Division, 1 Bowdoin Mill Road, Suite 300,Topsham 04086.
