Condolence: Steve left me with an unforgettable view of his attitude and adjustment to his pending end of life. As a determined and active person he exhibited gratitude,satisfaction,spirit and love. He did not leave us wishing for things he had not yet done. He did them. Heartfelt sympathies to Mary and all your love, care and support.

Condolence: My sincere condolences to Stephens family. I grew up with Stephen and remember all the good times we had until graduation. Glad to have been able to see him one time since then.

Condolence: My Uncle Steve genuinely cared about his family and anyone he met. He passionately lived his life and encourages us to do the same. His generosity went beyond money: his heart and his actions were his most generous asset. I love you and I will miss your bright shining smile. :)

Condolence: Sincere condolences to all of the Melgards from the Grinnell family. Steve was larger than life, and always had a wonderful attitude and great smile. He knew how to light up the room. He will be missed missed by so many.

Condolence: The entire Johnston family is saddened by Steve's passing. To Mary, Jean, Andy, Mildred, and the entire family, goes our deep condolences with heartfelt love. From Pat: "I am remembering such fun times with all the Melgards and hundreds of comic books Steve had and we would read in the bunkhouse..." And from Sally, "Summers just lit up with fun when he [Steve] and Andy were there. Such fond memories!"
