Obituary for Ralph Winchenbach Jr.

Ralph Winchenbach, Jr. 73, passed away peacefully September 30, 2017 at his home in Waldoboro. He was born July 25, 1944 in Damariscotta to Ralph Winchenbach and Beatrice Genthner Winchenbach. He grew up in Waldoboro and attended local schools.

He began working as a fisherman, and he also dredged for clams in Maryland. Ralph met Jackie Taylor when he was twenty-one. They got married and moved to New Bedford, MA. He began scalloping for the next twenty years.

He returned to Maine to dig clams until he retired after a long battle with cancer. He enjoyed working on and fixing old cars. He also restored his boat. He was predeceased by his parents; two sons, Michae and Nicholas Winchenbach, and sister Muriel Winchenbach.

He is survived by his daughters, Joanne Winchenbach of New Bedford,MA, Angela Winchenbach of TN, Cheryl Winchenbach of TN, Jessica Winchenbach of Cushing, sons, Jason Dee of Waldoboro, Douglas Luce of Union, Eric Cronk of Damariscota, brothers, Eugene F. Winchenbach of Waldoboro, Allen R. Winchenbach of Waldoboro, Montgomery Winchenbach of Waldoboro, Dale Winchenbach of Waldoboro, sisters, Linda Boyington of Warren, Charlene Boyington and her husband Ralph of Waldoboro, Sandra Soule of Waldoboro, Patricia Isabel of Waldoboro, Darlene Grierson and her husband Bob of Spruce Head, Beatrice Quintal and her husband Louie of Waldoboro, several grandchildren and great grandchildren, and his companion and caregiver for 25 years Arlene Jones of Waldoboro.

A gathering of family and friends will be held on Thursday, October 12, 2017 from 5-7 p.m. at Hall Funeral Home, 949 Main Street, Waldoboro, Maine.
