Obituary for Jessie Morgan (Broadwell)
Jessie M. Morgan, 75 of Union, passed away peacefully at the Sussman House on September 13, 2023.
Jessie was born in Palmer, Massachusetts on January 1, 1948, to David and Margaret Broadwell. Her parents moved the family to Searburg, Vermont in 1965. As a young girl, Jessie helped her dad on the farm and worked in the sawmill until graduating from Wilmington High School in 1966.
Through the years, Jessie also worked as a waitress and at a canning factory, but to her, homemaker was the most important job she ever had. In 1967, she married the love of her life, John P. Morgan. They moved the family to Union, Maine in 1972 where together they raised 5 children. After the loss of their youngest son in 1994, Jessie took on the role of mother again, raising 2 of her grandsons as her own.
Jessie is predeceased by her husband John, her parents, two sons John Jr and Joseph Sr Morgan, a sister Maggie Chase, and her mother and father-in-law Peg and Henry Morgan.
Jessie is survived by a son Henry Morgan and his wife Rusti, daughters Nyomi Fickett and her husband Dean and Brenda Curtis and her husband Ken, siblings Ray Broadwell, Mary Johnson and her husband Art, grandchildren Ray, Jessie-Sue and her husband Robbie, Joe Jr, Samantha, Amanda and her partner Mike, Josh, Chelsea, Nick and his wife Brianna, Shelbi, Dean, and Brandon and his partner Sydney, and 6 great-grandchildren. She also had a lifelong friend Barbara Watts, nieces and nephews, as well as many others who knew and loved her as a second mom.
The family will honor Jessie privately.
