Obituary for Guy Elliott Randlett

Southport resident Guy E. Randlett passed away on July 5, 2023, with his loving family by his
side. He was born September 28, 1951, in Boston, to Ann and Royce Randlett of Winchester, MA. He
spent summers on Squirrel Island with his family and many friends. He attended; The Pike School in
Andover and Berkshire School in Sheffield, MA. His Berkshire and Squirrel friends remained close and
inspired him throughout his life. He graduated from the University of Hartford, in Connecticut.

After college, he moved permanently back to Southport, Maine, working in local shipyards and
honing his skills as a ship carpenter. He worked for Chetley Rittall, Paul Luke’s shipyard and John Luke,
where he helped to build the current passenger vessel the Novelty.

Guy became a lobsterman and operated his own boatyard, the oldest on Southport, storing
twenty small crafts, sailboats and outboards in his yard. He launched and hauled them by hand with
rollers and an ancient winch, often manned by his wife Diane, whom he married in 1987. The pair raised
two adored children Jason and Angie Randlett.

Guy was a member of the Maine Guides Association, enjoying many hours guiding interesting
and wonderful clients from his first; Gene Holloway of Texas, to his last Mary Cabela of Cabela’s sporting
stores, from Nebraska, who added her trophy moose to her museum collection in Sidney.

In later years, he worked for close friend Nathan Theriault of OMM Outfitters, based at Eagle
Lake Sporting Camps, in Eagle Lake, Maine. He loved being out in the Northern Maine woods above
Moosehead Lake. He hunted for several years from Pittston Farm in Rockwood, Maine, owned by Ken
and Mary Twitchell, and in more recent years at Dean Busque’s, Boulet’s Busque Sporting Camps, T4R15
Township and Nathan Theriault’s OMM Outfitters at Eagle Lake.

Another highlight for Guy, with Fayette Baptist Church, Pastored by Russell Cotnoir Jr. in
Fayette, Maine; Guy and Diane joined a mission trip to the mountains of Mexico. Under the leadership
of Asst. Pastor Henry Cooper, a team helped to build two churches for the Totonac Indians of
Cuautotola, Amixtlan, Puebla, MX.

Guy is survived by his wife Diane, daughter and son-in-law, Angie and Matthew Ender and son
Jason Randlett, grandchildren, Eleanor and Fiona Randlett, Anthony Jason ‘AJ,’ Aubrey and Emma Ender,
sister and brother-in-law, Cynthia Pitts and Rick Mason, brother and sister-in-law Royce ‘Randy’ and
Terry Randlett, sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Tammy and Rob DeVore, nieces and nephew, Elliott Pitts, Ashley and Dana and wife Ruth Randlett, and great
