Obituary for Mary Lee Abbott
Mary Lee Abbott passed away at the Sussman House on April 16, 2022 at the age 80. She was born in Cambridge, Massachusetts to parents Freeman Hodgdon and Hazel Hayden on January 20, 1942.
Lee grew up in Spruce Point (Boothbay Harbor) and attended local schools.
In her younger years she worked for multiple local fish factories such as Malpeque, The Freezer and Stinson Canning Company. She obtained her CNA license and was a CNA for 35 years working in Falmouth and Boothbay Harbor.
Lee was an animal lover and especially loved birds.
Lee was very much a people person and loved meeting and talking with everyone. She was a giver with a heart of gold and would help with any charity event. She also helped many of her friends by being their care giver. Lee was also a “Nana” to everyone.
Lee was predeceased by her husband Fred “Buddy” Abbott, son Harvey Freeman Abbott and sister Deborah Giles.
Lee is survived by her son Derek Abbott and wife Becky of Boothbay, daughter Felicia Jean Abbott of Wiscasset, sister Gail Farrin of Falmouth, grandchildren Brandon Abbott of Bath, Loretta Sproul and husband Aaron of Whitefield, Samantha Garneau of New Jersey, Bedelia Abbott of Whitefield, Mackenzie Abbott of Bath, Ashley Abbott of Fort Bragg, North Carolina, Hayley Abbott of Boothbay and Sherry Giles of Newcastle, along with several great grandchildren.
A celebration of life service will be announced at a later date.
